Why We Should Learn Spanish Online :

With an increasing number of colleges and universities offering courses online, coupled with an ever-increasing need for our workforce to learn a different language, it only makes sense that those of us who are either out of work to find ways to expand out skill sets online. Why not learn how to speak Spanish online? Rocket Languages, for instance, offers a course line that you can check out for free at first. If you like the trial, then you can (and should) set yourself up for a full course.

I get a job list sent to my e-mail inbox every day from a handful of temp agencies out of Chicago and New York, and have noticed a trend among them. More than a quarter of those jobs ask for multilingual applicants, and more than half of those require that that second language be Spanish. If you're a native Spanish speaker, your chances of getting one of these jobs are naturally higher than those of us who speak it as a second language; on the other hand, in this job market, we will need every skill we can get, and if the ever-increasing Spanish-speaking population trend in the country continues, it will inevitably behoove us all-- not just in the major cities, but in that swath of middle America that holds on so tightly to their cheese-sticks and hamburgers, too-- to learn Spanish and get a jump on the people who have sat back and refused to learn more as the country has grown.

Now more than ever, as the world becomes more and more interdependent and interconnected, the need for multilingual skills is on the rise. Now more than ever, the resources available to us online are an increasingly integrated part of building those skills. With the advent of video conferencing, chat rooms, and lightning-fast e-mails, it's a cinch to set up learning groups to help build those skills that will aid in being able to compete in this ever-more interdependent world community. One of the easiest ways to be able to communicate with members of that community is through learning their languages, and doing so online simply makes the job of connecting with those who are all either learning the same languages-- or even batter, those who know them and speak them fluently already-- a far, far simpler process than it was when our parents tried to do so.
